Former St Mary’s University student Christian Wade will use his England experience to break the shackles in the Premiership.

The 21-year-old, who has clocked 11.00 seconds over  100m in the past, was at the start of a three-year sports science and psychology degree in Twickenham when he made his England Sevens debut in December 2009.

Fast forward to 2012 and  Wade, who scored a brace for London Wasps against Quins at Twickenham stadium on this season’s opening day, toured South Africa with the national team this summer having marked his senior debut with a try against the Barbarians in May.

The former London Scottish loan star, who bagged two tries in Wasps' 29-19 win over London Welsh on Sunday, is a marked man in the Premiership, but the speed demon reckoned he has learned the skills that can keep him one step ahead of the competition.

“I think this year people are obviously more aware of me as a player and what I can do,” he said.

“I have had to expand my game because I definitely feel as if there has been more attention paid to me from

“If I am being marked out of the game there is obviously going to be space elsewhere so it is about me being smart enough to pop up in other areas where I can then use my skills to make line breaks or as a decoy.

“Being involved in the whole England set up opened my eyes to where I was as a player.

“It gave me the chance to see up close how top players from across the country operate and conduct themselves and it was just a great experience for me to bring into my own development.”
