Nev Edwards may have only played 70 minutes since his return on loan to Rosslyn Park, but the winger has seen enough to know the club is going places.

Edwards joined Championship outfit Bedford Blues in May, but as they struggle against relegation, the 26-year-old has not played for five weeks, and was loaned out to get game time.

Despite his disappointment at being considered temporarily surplus to requirements, Edwards is keen to help Park in the National League One run in.

He featured in Park’s 31-11 win over Tynedale last weekend, which keeps the side eight points adrift of leaders Doncaster Knights, who they face in a crunch match on March 29.

Edwards said: “The atmosphere within the club is great. There are a few old faces from last season, but the new signings are awesome.

“There are a few games to go, and it is a cliche, but we have to take each one as it comes, although there is no doubt that the Knights game is massive.”

Before then, Park go to Esher this weekend, while Edwards’ parent club entertain Ealing Trailfinders.

He said: “I played the first six or seven games in the Championship and really enjoyed it. But as we’ve struggled, the coach has changed things round and I was sent out on loan.

“I’m here until further notice, which is disappointing for me, althought I am right behind Park’s run in.”

In the short space of time Edwards has had back playing, he has put his finger on the biggest difference between National League and Championship rugby.

"The clubs at Championship level are full-time and so the guys are constantly working on the weights, getting that extra time in the gym, which makes they far more physical than the National League," he said.

"That's the thing you notice most of all, I could tell when playing against Tynedale that the physicality is so different."
