Harlequins director of rugby Conor O'Shea's men showed what more than 100 days of pre-season preparation can do with a breathless win over Wasps.
Nick Evans romped to a 21 point haul as Quins triumphed 26-21 on the Premierships opening night at the Stoop.
The 35-year-old scored one try, created another for centre George Lowe and kicked 16 points in all including two key penalties that helped hold off a late Wasps rally.
And his boss was more than pleased with his side's efforts, predicting a good season for the west Londoners.
"That's as well as we've played first game of the season in the six seasons I've been here," O'Shea said.
"We have loads to work on, but we're going to be a good side this year."
