London Scottish coach Simon Amor is hoping the return of four big names will bolster a defence that is leaking points and causing him concern.

Joe Trayfoot, Paul Spivey, Harry Allen and Phil Godman should be available for tomorrow’s Championship clash at home to Doncaster, and having conceded 104 points in the past two games, Amor is looking for a big improvement in defence.

After two defeats and one victory, Scottish sit ninth in the 12-team table. Doncaster, in 11th, are yet to win but Amor is quick to point out that tomorrow’s visitors, like Scottish, have faced tough sides in their opening games.

He said: “We’re scoring points which is pleasing, but we aren’t going to win games if your defence is not up for it.

“To be scoring three and four tries and still not be within a shout of winning the game is not acceptable.

“The defence is a big area of focus for us and we have been concentrating on that all week in training and it has worked well.

“For some reason we do not understand our defensive system so we’re looking to adapt and simplify that this week.

“The guys have been working on that this week so I am hoping for an improved performance from that side of things this weekend.

“Doncaster are an excellent side. We had a tough opening three games [Rotherham, Newcastle and Bedford] but they had Plymouth away, which is a really tough opener, then Bristol and Newcastle. It just shows that this league is absolutely superb.”
