Former Rotherham Titans winger Mike Doneghan admits it will be strange to cross swords with some old pals tonight.

Scottish host Rotherham Titans as they return to Championship action after a break for the British & Irish Cup, which brought wins over London Welsh and Edinburgh Accies.

Doneghan is one of three Scots set to lock horns with their former side together with front rowers Jamie Kilbane and Ted Stagg.

And the 22-year-old will be on his guard.

Doneghan said: “It’s a big game and maybe a little bit bigger for the three of us who were at Rotherham last year.

“I will probably get the extra butterflies in the stomach because you want to show you have moved upwards rather than across.

“We are friends with quite a lot of the guys we will play against.

“They will know us more than any other players in the team. They will try and use that to their benefit.”

Doneghan has played in every match this season in a start to the campaign which has seen the exiles win three of their opening four league encounters.

He added: “Getting two wins from two in the British & Irish Cup on the back of our good league start shows were are moving in the right direction.

“It has been an enjoyable start to the season.

“I have been moving back and forth between centre and wing and it is good to get that experience. It helps the squad to have someone with that versatility.”

The Scot expects an entertaining encounter with Titans having racked up 23 tries from just four league matches so far.
