London Scottish centre Andy Reay believes an impressive British & Irish Cup win over London Welsh proves they can fight on two fronts this season.

The Athletic Ground outfit have begun their league campaign well, winning three of their opening four Championship matches so far.

They backed that up with a 32-26 win over Welsh at Newbury in round one of the competition, which sets them up for the visit of Scottish Premiership club Edinburgh Academicals tomorrow.

Former England U20 ace Reay said: “We made quite a few changes against Welsh, but won and we can fight on both fronts. Guys are coming into the side and the standards don’t slip.”

He added: “It’s going well so far and we were always confident we could do well with this squad.

“When you have guys like Mike Doneghan, Lee Miller and Miles Mantella in your side you are going to be dangerous and what’s pleasing is we are scoring from first and second phase.”

A big crowd is anticipated at the Athletic Ground with plenty of Scots expected to make the trip south.

Accies were beaten by Pontypridd at home last weekend, but Reay, 30, is taking nothing for granted.

“We need to be on our game. We don’t know much about them and the unknown quantity adds to things,” he added.
