Rosslyn Park vice-captain Harry Rowland has rewritten the club records by becoming the first man to skipper the side at every level from U12s to the first team.

The 25-year-old flanker, who took over the armband from the injured Darrell Ball for the 27-15 National League One win over Coventry on Saturday, played his first game for the club in 1999.

Rowland, who spent time at London Irish and Molesey before returning to Park three years’ ago, said: “I could not be more proud. Park means everything to me and when I pull on the red and white shirt I give it my all.

“I didn’t really know about the record and I think it is unlikely to be beaten with the trend today of players moving from club to club.”

Head coach Jan Bonney said: “We’re really lucky to have someone like Harry at the club. He is a great leader.”

Beating Coventry marked back-to-back wins for Park, keeping them in touch with the top teams in fourth spot.

Bonney said: “When we’re on form we’re a good side. We have been working hard on not giving away silly points and penalties and I was pleased with the defensive performance. We also scored good tries so a pleasing day.”

Nev Edwards, Rowland and Steve Hamilton got the tries while Ross Laidlaw kicked two penalties and three conversions.

Park host bottom club Loughborough Students, who  were promoted from National Two last season, on Saturday.
