Richmond director of rugby Steve Hill has warned his much changed squad that patience is a virtue.

Richmond, featuring nine players making their league debuts, crashed 33-20 at former Championship side Plymouth Albion on Saturday to open their National Division One campaign on a sour note.

It might have been different had Hill’s men not collected two yellow cards and taken some of the opportunities they created.

Chris Davies and number eight Jack Allcock did score, but Hill warned it could have been more.

“It is very frustrating not to have gained any points from this game,” he said.

“Our set piece was very solid and some of our new players really shone.

We had opportunities to score which we lost through a lack of patience and accuracy and these are the areas we need to address.”
