Boxer Kieran Leinster believes his new training regime will ensure ring success later this month, as he prepares for the biggest challenge of his career.

The Teddington 22-year- old lines up alongside seven of the other top middleweights later this month for the first Queensbury Boxing League’s Quest Knockout Tournament.

Leinster lost to Gareth Gardner on his last appearance in a Queensbury event and the pair could meet again should they both reach the final if he can get through his quarter-final bout with former British light middleweight champion Aaron Lowery.

“I’ve got a hard opening fight against him,” he said.

“He always starts fast and has a phenomenal work rate, plus he’s very good at making his opponents miss and then punishes them on the counter.

“In preparation, I’ve really been focusing on my mental sharpness and making sure I get off to a fast start as there is no time to warm into these fights as they are only three rounds.

“Me and my coach Peter Simon have come up with a game plan and we’ve been working on new elements to improve my boxing.

“To win the event would be my greatest achievement in boxing.”

The Quest Knockout Tournament is on November 28 at the Copthorne Effingham Park Hotel in West Sussex.
