Gareth Gardner insists his undefeated record in the Queensbury Boxing League will still be intact after his latest title defence this weekend.

The multi-weight champion from Croydon will return to action on Saturday at Epsom Downs racecourse in Surrey to make the second defence of his British middleweight title.

He faces Orpington’s Lloyd Miller, and Gardner is adamant that Miller and all of his other divisional rivals will not be getting their hands on his belt this year as he embarks on another season in the QBL.

Gardner was last in action in November when he systematically dismantled highly touted prospect Kieran Leinster to emphatically defend his crown at the 2014 season finale, and once again Gardner will put it all on the line in the ring when he meets the number one challenger for the belt.

“Lloyd Miller is a talented fighter and has all the skills, but there is no way he’s taking my title, “ warned the champion.

“I was ringside at the Alexandra Palace in London in March to watch him win the national super middleweight belt against Terry Russell and he boxed really well, but Russell made it a lot easier for him than it should have been and that’s something I won’t be doing.”

In his previous appearances in the competition, Miller has shown vulnerabilities after being stopped by Freddie Yemofio and he looked in trouble in the final round against Russell in London.

So Gardner is keen to test his whiskers and see how they stand up to his famous relentless pressure.

“Lloyd's a big strong middleweight but he’s shown weaknesses in his fights and was rocked in the last round against Russell and had to hang on to get the win, so let’s test that chin on Saturday and see how it fares against me.”

Gardner’s British title defence will headline the league’s night of championship action at the Epsom Downs racecourse.
