Carshalton boxer Ricky “Pretty” Boylan has moved up north and switched trainers to give his punch extra clout.
Boylan, who started out at the Earlsfield ABC, teamed up with Jamie Moore and Nigel Travis ahead of his warm-up bout last month.
And now, with his English light welterweight shot against Tyler Goodjohn on the doorstep (October 11), the 26-year-old has relocated to Manchester in an effort to take the next step.
Boylan has spent the past three years with trainer Alan Smith, and he insisted there were no hard feelings between the two.
“We have not fallen out, but we have different views on a few things and I felt it was time for a change,” he said.
“Before I settled on Jamie and Nigel, I spent some time with Jim McDougall in Essex, and we did some work out in Marbella, so it’s been a measured decision to move.
“I am so grateful for everything that Alan has done for me, but sometimes a change is needed to take that next step up.”
