Sutton United boss Paul Doswell said his charges are not getting the results they deserve, but will soon lose the tag of draw specialists.

Monday’s 2-2 draw at Welling in the Blue Square South was United’s third consecutive point, after draws with Dover and Maidenhead, but Doswell is happy with his team’s efforts.

He said: “We have played well. We’re just not getting what we deserve. But if we keep working hard the results will come.

“In four out of four games, teams have had to change their shape to combat how we are playing.”

United host Dorchester Town on Saturday. The Magpies have won two out of their four league games so far.

Doswell said: “Dorchester had a good win over Bath on Monday, but we need to be winning our home games. We drew with Dover and we should have beaten Maidenhead. But there’s no need to panic, we just need to get that first win under our belts.”

Doswell is hoping to have defender Simon Downer back by Monday while Stefan Payne, who broke his metatarsal in a pre-season match against Leyton Orient, has had the cast removed and will be returning to training soon.
