Goalkeeper Jason Brown reckons Sutton United’s 4-2 humbling of leaders Bromley in their own manor has sent a shockwave down the Skrill South table.

On an exciting night of action in south-east London, United closed the gap on Bromley thanks to goals from Jamie Slabber and Craig Dundas, as well as a brace from super-sub Dean Sinclair.

The hosts were 2-1 up with 10 minutes to go, and looking to extend their lead over United in third place to 16 points.

However, three goals in a scintillating 15-minute spell sent the United fans home happy and, according to the former Welsh international Brown, sent a message to United’s rivals.

“This result will send a lot of shockwaves through the league, and no-one will want to play us now,” he said.

“We’ve been sending out a message since Christmas with some excellent performances, but the win over Bromley will turn heads.”

He added: “I felt we were always in the game, but games turn on moments and when I made a save in the second I had a feeling it would go our way.

“Bromley were on top at the start of the second half, but you could see they were desperate for a third goal.

“Even at 2-2 I was still rushing to get the ball out to the lads because there was still time, and you had the feeling something would happen.”

Brown made his United debut in February’s 2-2 draw at Gosport Borough, and in the five games since he has conceded just three goals.

However, the 31-year-old believes their run of eight games without defeat is down to the hard work of the entire team.

“Since I’ve been here I’ve realised we have a fantastic squad, a fantastic team spirit,” he said.

“We have hungry boys who understand their role within the team or squad, and when you have something like that you always have a chance, and we have really good chance.

“We have nothing to fear from anyone. We go to Farnborough this weekend, and we know that if we work hard and as long as we look after ourselves we will be alright.

“But we cannot get complacent and think the job is done because it is nowhere near done.

“We need to keep pushing on, keep striving, looking to better ourselves and working hard in training every day.”
