Met Police boss Jimmy Cooper admitted every cloud has a silver lining after securing the services of on-loan Crawley Town striker Jonte Smith for another month.
The 18-year-old was not allowed to feature in Saturday's FA Cup clash against his parent club, which saw the Red Devils hold on for a 2-1 win despite a spirited second half display from the Blues.
Cooper had feared Smith had played his last game for the Imber Court outfit, but in the aftermath of his side's first round triumph Crawley boss Richard Barker agreed to extend the deal.
"At least there is some good news to have come out of the defeat," said Cooper.
"We have signed him for another month and will have him until the middle of December.
"After that we will have to wait until the January transfer window opens again before we can agree another deal."
