Whether he will make it or not, Sutton Common Rovers will not stand in the way of Hamilton Antonio’s dream of playing professional football.

The midfielder has been on trial with QPR’s U21 after catching the club’s eye in pre-season and with his three goals in eight Combined Counties League Premier Division appearances.

Antonio missed the 8-1 hammering off Cove last weekend, as well as the 2-1 defeat to Hanworth Villa on Monday.

And should it clash with a QPR outing, the 18-year-old could miss this weekend’s FA Vase trip to Eastbourne Town – leaving boss Darren Salmon with a foot in two camps.

Sutton Common Rovers boss dedicates FA Vase hopes and dreams to departed nephew Sam Hargreaves

He said: “It is a great opportunity for Hamilton to take a step closer to fulfilling his dream of playing professional football.

“Yes, I’d love to have him available for Saturday, but we would never stand in the way of a player furthering their career.

“Besides, bearing in mind that a Championship club is looking at a player from a club in the Combined Counties League, I think that reflects very well on us.

“We’re a family club, and we want nothing but the best for our players.”
