Carshalton Athletic manager Matt Howard wants more consistency following his side's comfortable win against last season's play-off semi-finalists Faversham Town.

The 3-0 win on Monday evening was capped by a stunning late goal by striker Dan Summers, who scored past the visiting keeper from inside his own half.

And, although Carshalton's recent results have been a mixed bag - including a 2-1 defeat at home to Whyteleafe on Saturday, Howard knows his squad has it in them to keep performing well.

"We haven't been playing badly recently, but we need to take the positives of Monday night and keep applying them," he said.

"Our overall performance was fantastic, topped by well-taken goals and a clean sheet, but we are a young side and need to learn to keep some consistency in place moving forwards."

Defender Bobby Price turned Carshalton's first-half dominance into a 36th minute lead by bundling home a Summers effort which cannoned off the Town crossbar, and he returned the favour by teeing up the striker for his first of the game on 81 minutes.

"I've not witnessed too many goals from the halfway line during my career but Dan is capable of such things," Howard said of Summers' second goal.

"He always carries a goal threat and has three in two games now, so we'll need him to keep that form up."

Carshalton travel to Hythe Town this Saturday (kick-off 3pm) and Howard has called upon the fans to continue playing their part in the club's season.

"The atmosphere against Faversham was fantastic and the players showed their appreciation at full-time," he added.

"I hope to see that continue at Hythe, and Guernsey on Monday, because it gives the lads an extra boost."
