Corinthian Casuals rued individual errors which gifted three points to Herne Bay in their 2-1 defeat in Ryman Division One South on Saturday.

But Casuals’ boss James Bracken defiantly insisted his play-off chasing side fear no-one despite the setback.

The King George's Field outfit went into the match on the back of a five game winning streak and although they had the majority of possession and created the better chances, they walked away scratching their heads as to how they lost.

Costly errors and two own goals from the home side put pay to Casuals maintaining their second spot in the league.

The only highlight came from Sekou Kaba’s first goal for the club, equalising just one minute after Herne Bay had taken the lead in the 61st minute courtesy of an unfortunate own goal from debutant Ben King.

But with goalkeeper Danny Bracken spilling a cross into his own net in the 78th minute, they couldn’t come back from a goal down a second time around and Herne Bay stole the points in a performance described as ‘lucky’ by their officials.

“We’re disappointed not to get another win despite doing enough to do so,” said boss Bracken after the match.

“We deserved it but they’ve scored two poor goals and they’ve taken the win.

“Individuals should’ve done better for the goals and individual errors have cost us. We’ve got to defend better than that. But I’m not going to single any one out. We win, lose and draw as a team.

“We had two or three chances to score goals today. Throughout the second half, we’ve missed the target on pretty much every occasion.

"We have pulled out a few good saves from their keeper and we’ve been close with one or two other efforts.

“When a winning team’s goalkeeper is given man of the match by their side, that says more than I can."
