Twickenham CC second team skipper Matt Bendelow celebrated his birthday in style with a goal and a rare cleansheet last Saturday.
Bendelow, who turned 29 last Sunday, smashed home the opening goal in a 4-0 Amateur Football Combination Intermediate South Division win for Old Hamptonians’ second string over New Magdalen — the side’s first win of the season and first shut-out since February 2012.
Tom Gary and Andy White (two) scored the other goals to the delight of captain George Chilton.
“It was a good performance from all the lads and great to get our first clean sheet in years,” said the skipper.
