Met Police boss Jim Cooper hailed “top lad” and former Sutton United legend Steve McKimm ahead of their head-to-head this weekend.

McKimm took over as manager of Tonbridge Angels in the summer, and he takes a won one, lost one record to Imber Court on Saturday.

Cooper said: “We’ve had Tonbridge watched.

“They show the same fighting spirit as Steve [McKimm] did as a player and we expect to see that come Saturday.”

He added: “I’ve known Steve for donkey’s years – he’s a top lad. I’m really pleased that he’s been given the opportunity to manage at such a prestigious club.”

Cooper’s side bounced back from an opening day defeat at Maidstone Untied to beat Hendon 2-0 at Imber Court on Tuesday night.

Bradley Hudson-Odoi bagged a brace to take his season’s tally to three in just two games.
