Hampton & Richmond Borough striker Charlie Moone did not get to celebrate his FA Cup heroics, but had a sore head on Sunday morning all the same.

The former Woking striker netted his side's 13th minute winner in Saturday's 1-0 second qualifying round win over Southern Premier Bedford Town at the Beveree, which put the Beavers in the hat for Monday's third qualifying round draw.

Moone, whose goal secured the club another £4,500 in prize money to go with the £3,000 they have already collected, did not finish the game after a bang to the head in the 69th minute left him seeing stars and saw him miss the post-match celebrations.

"I was supposed to have a couple of beers and go out after the game, but I ended up having to stay in," he said on Sunday.

"I had a massive bang to the head and I couldn't see anything, so it was a bit worrying. Luckily I had an early night and everything seems to be OK now.

"I'm just happy we are in the draw for the next round and I don't really mind who we get as long as we are at home.

"It was really important for the club from a financial point of view to get into the next round and, hopefully, we can go all the way to the first round proper.

"From our point of view, as players, it is nice to be through because every non-League team wants play against the big teams and have the opportunity to live the FA Cup dream."

Joint Hampton boss Paul Barry confirmed on Saturday that Joel Ledgister had been released from the squad - a fortnight after his hat-trick helped eliminate Ashford Town in the first qualifying round.

"I do not know the reasons, but I've known Joel a long time and he is a good friend of mine, so I'm gutted to see him go, " added Moone.

"There is no doubt about his footballing ability, it might just be a tactical change with the way we want to play and he might not fit in with those plans. I don't know."

Meanwhile, 18-year-old academy graduate Reece Brewster - an unused sub on Saturday - has been awarded a first team contract at the club, with Matt Reece and Ryan Case being shown the Beveree exit.

Aldershot Town midfielder Kofi Holiday and defender Nicholas Grovsner have signed up for work experience, while Leiston goalkeeper Matthew Webster has agreed non-contract terms.
