Tooting & Mitcham United have sacked manager Craig Tanner and assistant manager Adam Moriarty after less than two years in charge.

The Terrors complete their domestic programme this weekend at home to Horsham, with a mid-table position secured, before facing Hendon in the London Senior Cup final next month looking for a first piece of silverware in seven years.

Tanner, who took on the top job in June 2013, will remain in place until the end of the season.

anner said: "I'm disappointed and surprised, but I want to ensure the club finishes the season on a high in the final game on the season and in the cup final."

A club statement said: "The club feels a change is required in order to attain it's ambition of promotion from Ryman South.

"We would like to take this opportunity to thank Craig and Adam for all their hard work in bringing stability to the club over the last two years and would like to wish them all the best for the future.

"We will now look to appoint a new management team as soon as possible."

Fans have inundated the club's forum with messages of support for both Tanner and Moriarty, as well as slamming the decision to sack the pair.

"I just knew this would happen and the excuse is always 'it's best for the club to move for promotion'. How often have we been told that? Thanks Craig and Adam for all your efforts and sorry to see you go."
