Carshalton Athletic slipped up at home on Saturday for the first time since the end of October going down 1-0 to Horsham.

A dominate display by the Robins lacked a vital cutting edge and they succumbed to a penalty conceded with 15 minutes to go, which was enough to secure the visitor's first win in six games.

The defeat left Carshalton sitting 12th in Ryman Division One South and nine points outside the play-off places.

Boss Rob Scantlebury: "We felt confident going into the game but we also knew it could be a potential banana skin.

"They showed a lot of determination but it could have been an entirely different result had we been more decisive in front of their goal.

"We won't brood over the end of our home run however. We need to reflect on how positive it has been, dust ourselves down and go again."

Carshalton substitute Ryan Young had a chance to put the Robins in front a minute before the penalty,  but he shot wide after midfielder Jordan Clarke put him clean through on goal.

"Ryan is a young lad and we won't let him dwell on that," said Scantlebury.

"He was energetic when he came on and got himself into the shooting position - those are positives we can build on from his cameo."

The Robins manager has said he wants to see his forward players rediscover some form in front of goal as the club prepares for a trip to Hythe Town this Saturday.

"One or two may be a bit low in confidence right now but I'm happy with all my attacking players and know what each of them brings to our table," Scantlebury added.

"We can be a bit slow in reacting to opportunities for through balls and shots however, so I'd like to see us turn that around so more of our promising approach play can be capped off with goals."

Meanwhile, Carshalton defender Bobby Price has signed a new contract.

The 19-year old full back, a product of the Robins' youth programme, has become the fifth Carshalton player to commit his future up until the end of the 2015/16 season.

Price has chipped in with eight goals across two full seasons with the first-team to date.
