Despite winning their first FA Cup clash of the season 11-0, Molesey boss Steve Webb is keeping his feet on the floor ahead of the next installment at Cray Wanderers this weekend.

It may prove difficult as the Walton Road outfit have also won their opening five fixtures in the Combined Counties League Premier Division, scoring 20 goals in the process.

Moreover, Saturday’s opponents are struggling at the foot of Ryman Division One North having won just once in six games.

But Webb still has the Wanderers as favourites.

He said: “I’ve had a look at the opposition, and despite their poor form, and our fantastic form, I would still consider us underdogs.

“We have nothing to lose, and can enjoy the occasion.”

Molesey have not reached the first round proper of the FA Cup since 1993, which is still a club record.

That can only be matched if the Moles win the next five Cup ties – however, Webb is a believer.

He said: “I told the players, this is the biggest domestic cup in the world. I know it’s a bit of a cliche, but anything can happen. It’s the magic of the cup.

“We play nice football and Cray have a good pitch, so who knows?”

With such dominant form in the league, Webb is also confident that any Cup run will not be a distraction.

“I see it as a positive. The cup is a nice break for the players,” he added.
