Leatherhead boss Richard Brady is preparing to push off for the final chukka
6:00pm Friday 15th March 2013 in Non-League By Tim Ashton
Back: Tom Bradbrook has returned from injury SP70846
Leatherhead boss Richard Brady is ready to push on for the Ryman Division One South play-offs and has a trio of players finally getting off the treatment table to help out.
The Tanners’ challenge for automatic promotion has derailed since beating Maidstone United on their own turf at the beginning of February.
A run of two wins in seven games since then has dropped them from third to fifth, and they faced sixth-placed Folkestone Invicta last night at Fetcham Grove needing a win to prevent dropping out of the play-offs altogether.
But Brady knows the reason behind the slump, and how the natural healing process will reignite their promotion campaign once again.
The Tanners lost 1-0 at home to Hythe Town on Saturday but, despite his disappointment, Brady was pleased to be able to give hitman Tom Bradbrook his first run-out in almost five weeks.
He said: “We’re getting our best players back at just the right time. The past six weeks have been difficult and the guys have done well.
“Against Hythe we were the better team and deserved more. They scored with their only shot on goal with about five minutes to go.
“It has just not been happening for us in recent games and, as a manager, you deal with it and move on.
“However, Tom [Bradbrook] is coming back from injury and he has been a big miss. He and Tommy [Hutchings] were starting to develop an understanding up front just when he got injured.
“We’ve also got Neil Jenkins and Jamie Coyle coming back. Both are key and have the experience to push us on at the end of the season.
“We know what we need to do, and we’re going all out to do it.”
After last night’s visit of Folkestone, Brady’s Tanners travel to Eastbourne Town on Saturday.
