Crystal Palace have rejected Bolton Wanderers' request to speak to Dougie Freedman.

The Scot has been linked heavily with a move to Bolton Wanderers, and Palace confirmed their Championship rivals had made an approach.

However, A short statement on the Palace website read: "Crystal Palace F.C. can confirm that they have received a request from Bolton Wanderers to speak to Dougie Freedman regarding their vacant managers position.

"Permission has not been granted for Dougie to speak to Bolton."

Freedman's contract runs out in six months and despite the Eagles sitting in the Championship play-offs, there has been no new deal as yet.

Bolton caretaker boss Jimmy Phillips told the Croydon Guardian's sister paper in Bolton, The Bolton News, that chairman Phil Gartside had been in touch with Crystal Palace.

He said: "We had the players in training on Sunday and the chairman came in to say he’s had contact with Crystal Palace to speak to Dougie Freedman.

"Whether that goes ahead we don’t know. So how long we will be doing this role, we don’t know.

"Whatever happens in the future we will fully support whoever comes in."

More to follow.
