Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish wants the club’s next manager to build a long-term project.

The Eagles are managerless after Sam Allardyce, who was appointed in December, resigned last month.

Palace’s last manager to spend more than two years at Selhurst Park was Neil Warnock in 2010.

A host of names have been linked with the Eagles hotseat, and Parish wants his next boss to emulate former Palace chief Steve Coppell.

He told American radio station SiriusXM FC: “We really want somebody who feels they can come in and help us improve the footballing side of the club over a long period of time.

“That is what we are looking for. In the past, we have had managers like Steve Coppell who have been at the club a long time and helped build the club.

“If we could get one of those relationships again that would be preferable.”

Burnley boss Sean Dyche and ex-Swansea and Leeds manager Garry Monk are the bookmakers’ favourites to land the Palace job.
