Crystal Palace have joined the race to sign Brighton goalkeeper David Stockdale.

Stockdale, 31, was instrumental in the Seagulls’ promotion-winning Championship season, but his contract runs out this summer.

A deal between the club and player is yet to be agreed with former club Leeds and Chelsea keeping tabs on the no1.

But according to the Mirror, Palace are Stockdale’s latest admirers and want him to push Wayne Hennessey for a starting spot.

Hennessey has been an ever-present in Sam Allardyce’s team this term, keeping France goalkeeper Steve Mandanda and Eagles legend Julian Speroni out.

Stockdale could provide stronger competition if he was to make the move to Selhurst Park.

But Chelsea want a back-up keeper if Asmir Begovic leaves Stamford Bridge, while Leeds are eyeing a reunion with the Yorkshire-born player.
