Liverpool hope to attract a bid of £30m for Christian Benteke after rejecting a £25m offer from Crystal Palace, reports say.

Despite only arriving at Anfield last summer, Benteke looks set to leave Liverpool after enduring a difficult season under Jurgen Klopp.

The Belgian scored four goals in eight Premier League games at the start of the campaign but only added three to his tally in 2016, despite playing 25 games in all competitions.

His time at the Reds is reportedly running out and Palace made a formal approach for the striker on Friday when the summer window opened.

Alan Pardew hopes to strengthen his attacking options but the Eagles’ opening bid of £25m has been instantly rejected, according to the Liverpool Echo.

It is claimed the club believe they can recoup the majority of the money they spent on the ex-Aston Villa man and have their sights set on a fee of around £30m.

Benteke, 25, has been in France for Euro 2016 in recent weeks but watched on as a substitute as Belgium were knocked out by Wales in Lille.
