Despite being one of the most consistent defenders in the Premier League over the past two season, international recognition has constantly been beyond Scott Dann’s reach.

The Crystal Palace star has made countless cases for his inclusion in the national squad but manager Roy Hodgson has decided against handing Dann an international debut.

Arsenal legend Ray Parlour has recently stated that the 28-year-old deserves a chance for the Three Lions, while teammate Dwight Gayle has suggested the defender would have represented his country had he been playing for a more high-profile club.

England’s team if picked on EA SPORTS stats alone includes the former England U21 centre back, and yet another stat has emerged which suggests Hodgson has been wrong not to offer him a chance.

Stats compiled by WhoScored show that no player has blocked more shots in the top flight this season than Dann (17 - joint with Swansea’s Ashley Williams).

Crystal Palace, who sit 8th in the Premier League following a strong run of results, entertain relegation-battlers Sunderland on Monday night.
