Yohan Cabaye insisted every memeber of the Crystal Palace team need to contribute more in front of goal after the 0-0 draw with Manchester United on Saturday.

The French midfielder is Palace’s leading goalscorer this season with four goals, three from the penalty spot, while all the Eagles’ strikers have yet to register a single league goal.

But Cabaye suggested the rest of the team need to help the strikers end their goal drought by creating more chances.

“We have to work for them [strikers], particularly in the midfield,” he said.

“We have to try and find a key pass to give them a good chance to score.

“They work hard, for [Dwight] Gayle it’s not easy alone up front, but we need to find him more in the box for him to be dangerous.”

Cabaye missed a good chance to put Palace ahead in the second half, shooting wide from close range after Joel Ward’s cross found the French international in the penalty area.

And Cabaye admitted he should have found the back of the net.

He said: “I should do better than I did. I thought [Chris] Smalling would be across when I saw the ball, I should have hit the target.

“I’m disappointed,; it was a big chance to score.”

The Eagles midfielder also felt referee Mike Jones was more lenient with some of United’s players during an aggressive encounter that saw three yellow cards for each team.

Cabaye was booked after just 17 minutes, while many of United’s players were given several warnings before receiving yellow cards.

“That’s what happens when you play against a big team, unfortunately for us,” the 29-year-old said.

“That’s why I was angry, because I had injustice. But we are human, maybe the referee made the wrong decision.

“I just have to deal with it, that’s football.”
