Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew reckons the Hammers can reach the shores of Europe competition this season – and the Eagles can be there too.

West Ham United are the visitors to Selhurst Park this weekend, with both sides returning to Premier League action after the international break.

Palace sit fourth in the table, while the Hammers, under new manager Slaven Bilic, are sixth.

Pardew said: “West Ham's results have been very strong against the best teams. They have a very good squad.

“They have a fantastic chance of gaining a European place.”

Ahead of clash against his former employers, Pardew welcomes back Damian Delaney, Mile Jedinak, Jordon Mutch and Lee Chung-Yong to training - althouhg Connor Wickham, Marouane Chamakh and Joel Ward are still out.

However, there is brighter news on the injury front as the Eagles who were on international duty all returned unscathed.

“What you really hope for [after the break] is that we can keep the focus of the group. It's a tricky situation,” Pardew said.

“You want everyone to come back fit and well. We've been lucky, because all of them have.”

He added: “If we can stay clear of injuries we can compete with West Ham [over the course of the season].”
