Glenn Murray and his Crystal Palace team-mates are taking the positives out of a fourth consecutive defeat Premier League defeat.

The Eagles went down 2-1 at home to Manchester United on Saturday evening – a game where controversy dogged both United goals, and Jason Puncheon bagged his fifth goal of the season.

Despite the fourth loss in a row, striker Murray saw the positives following poor performances at home against Hull City and West Bromwich Albion in the previous two home games.

“I’m disappointed, but I felt like we’d done enough to get something out of the game. I felt we were back on it and we performed quite well as a team” said the 31-year-old.

“We were a bit disappointed with ourselves in the first two games of this four-game run, but we have been up against good teams in the past two games.

“The league never lies and we were playing the champions so it was going to be difficult, but on Saturday, although we were back on it, we were up against a good Man United team.”

United’s opening goal came from the spot after Scott Dann was adjudged to have handled Ashley Young’s cross in the penalty area.

Murray said: “I haven’t seen the penalty incident again but I have heard that it wasn’t quite a penalty.

“But decisions probably even themselves out during the course of the season and you’ve got to take the positives out of all situations in football and not let it get you down too much.

“Don’t get high with the wins and low with the losses - you’ve got to keep it on an even keel throughout.”

After Puncheon’s second-half equaliser, Murray had a golden opportunity to make it 2-1, but was denied by a worldy save by United keepers David de Gea.

Murray, who has five league goals to his name this season, said: “I’ve taken the touch past the defender, opened the goal up and I felt like I made the right decision at the time to chip the goalkeeper.

“I haven’t seen it back but it’s a world class save by a world-class ‘keeper and that’s why he’s at a club like Man United.”
