Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew did not take training this morning as talks on becoming the new manager at Crystal Palace continue.
Pardew declined to speak to press after Sunday's win over Everton to avoid questions on the vacancy at Selhurst Park.
However, after Palace offered a compensation package to United, Pardew was free to speak to Eagles co-chairman Steve Parish yesterday (Monday).
The Geordies released a statement saying assistant manager John Carver would take training today, and it added: "Crystal Palace have offered compensation at a level whereby Alan has now been permitted to speak to them."
More to follow.
