A serious injury to Republic of Ireland international Alan Judge took the gloss off Brentford's fine 3-1 win over Ipswich Town at Portman Road on Saturday.

The midfielder was stretchered off after only a few minutes following a dreadful tackle by Luke Hyam which left the midfielder with a broken leg.

The visitors re-grouped and after Sam Saunders set them on their way, Lasse Vibe rounded off a fine week for the Danish international as he notched his fourth and fifth goals in eight says to give the Bees a deserved win.

BRENTFORD: Smith points accusing finger at Ipswich Town midfielder

The Bees enjoyed a great three on one chance when Vibe skipped away from his marker, but after passing to substitute Konstantin Kerschbaumer, the midfielder's shot deflected off the defender and the ball as cleared by Bartosz Bialkowski.

Brentford went ahead just before the half hour mark. After Kerschbaumer stole the ball in midfield he broke down the right and crossed to an unmarked Saunders, who calmly steered the ball past Bialkowski.

David Button had to be alive to nip in from of Cole Skuse and gather the ball at the back post after a cross from the left.

A magnificent run by Sergi Canos from the half way line ended when his shot was tipped behind for a corner by Bialkowski.

Ipswich had a good chance when the ball was slipped through to Ainsley Maitland-Niles, but Button made a comfortable save.

The home side were reduced to ten men in added on time at the end of the first half when Hyam received his second yellow card after a coming together with Ryan Woods.

Brentford's first chance of the second half came when a mazy run by Canos saw his shot take a deflection and come back off the bar.

Moments later the Bees doubled their lead when Maxime Colin cross from the right was met by the stooping Vibe who nodded past Bialkowski from little more than a couple of feet off the ground.

Just four minutes later Vibe grabbed his second when he nicked the ball off Christophe Berra and produced an exceptionally cool finish from six yards to slot past Bialkowski.

Ipswich's day failed to get any better when Freddie Sears found himself clean through but shot wide of the right hand post.

The home side got one back when David McGoldrick passed to Liam Feeney on the left of the box and he fired past Button.
