Brentford welcome back Andre Gray to Griffin Park tonight and head coach Dean Smith is hoping his men remember how to stop their former team-mate.

The 26-year-old moved to Turfmoor in August after his 18 goals helped the Bees to the Championship play-offs last term.

He has bagged 16 goals for the Clarets this time around as they look for a swift return to the Premier League.

And Smith reckoned he had nothing to tell his players about Gray that they did not already know.

"They are a strong team they have got a lot of quality players and have the parachute payments from the Premier League, which also helps in this league," he said.

"We lost a very good player to them earlier in the season in Andre Gray, who is now top scorer in the league.

"We know there is a challenge there, but where there is a challenge there is an opportunity and we are looking forward to that.

"The lads know enough about him already to know how to stop him.

"We know he is a really good player who can score goals and we have to be at our best to make sure he doesn't score against us."

Speculation persists around the futures of James Tarkowski and Alan Judge after Burnley tabled bids for the pair this week.

Brentford will resist advances for their star men - unless the price is right - while at the same time trying to strengthen themselves.

Loan star: Chelsea's John Swift has been in good form this season

And Smith revealed he is primarily interested in securing back-up for young loan stars Sergi Canos and Chelsea's John Swift.

"We are always looking to strengthen the squad and I think we need to strengthen in the wide areas," he added.

Spanish eyes: Brentford loanee Sergi Canos is only young and needs careful handling

"At the moment we have two loan players in John Swift and Sergi Canos so we will maybe look in those areas.

"There are a lot of players out there and there are a lot of phone calls I have to take from agents at this time of the season."
