Dean Smith will be out to replicate his one previous visit to Craven Cottage when Brentford take on Fulham tomorrow.
The Bees’ new head coach, was assistant manager when at Leyton Orient when they beat the then-Premier League Cottagers 2-1 in the FA Cup in 2006.
And Smith, who led his team to a 2-0 win over MK Dons in his first game in charge, knows his men will be in for a similarly tough test.
“Fulham were then a Premier League side,” said Smith on Thursday.
“Orient were a League Two team and won 2-1 so I’ve got good memories of that.
“But we know how difficult this is going to be.
“The one thing I’ve been stressing to the players is go and play like they did last week, but because it’s a local derby there’s got to be a sense of emotional control, so don’t get carried away with the occasion, [but] play the game.”
