Brentford boss Mark Warburton expects owner Matthew Benham to clear up any uncertainty over his future this week.

The 52-year-old watched as the Bees crashed 3-0 at Charlton Athletic on SAturday for a second successive Championship defeat that puts the skids under his side's promotion push.

Bees chairman Cliff Crown is reported to have travelled to Spain last week to meet with Rayo Vallecano boss Paco Jemez, leading to speculation Warburton was about to replaced as Griffin Park chief.

Warburton was thought to be under consideration for the Aston Villa job prior to Tim Sherwood's appointment at the weekend.

And, after a week of turmoil in west London, the Bees manager expects Benham to clarify his position within the next 48 hours.

"The owner, Matthew, has invested a lot of money in this club and we wouldn't be where we are without Matthew Benham," he said.

"I have enormous respect for all he has done for the club. He'll give some clarity over the next couple of days I'm sure.

"It's only right Matthew does that, he's the owner.”
