Brentford boss Mark Warburton has warned players who might be considering quitting Griffin Park in January that the grass may not be greener elsewhere.

The Bees smashed Wolverhampton Wanderers 4-0 at Griffin Park to move up to third place in the Championship table thanks to goals from Alan Judge, Stuart Dallas, Andre Gray and Jota.

Warburton is still in talks with midfielders Jonathan Douglas and Toumani Diagouraga over new contracts and expects to tie them down sooner rather than later.

The transfer window opens in January with the Bees expecting to fend off offers for their star men, while at the same time looking to add more quality to the current squad.

“We’ve got to be aware that the performances of our players are only going to attract interest from other clubs,” said the manager.

“But – like Adam Forshaw earlier in the season – we will only let players leave on our terms.

“Players who are here have to remember the grass isn’t always greener elsewhere.

“I cannot think of too many players who have left this club and have benefited from the move.

“We have to make sure that everything we do is adding quality and value to our squad and our training environment.”

He added: “Talks with Jonathan and Toumani have been very positive, but they are just concentrating on the football at the moment.

“The games are coming thick and fast. Frank McParland is dealing with things and contracts will be sorted when we have time.”

The Bees head to struggling Huddersfield Town tomorrow looking for a sixth straight win and Warburton knows the Terriers will be no pushovers.

“They have only lost two league games at home this season, have a quality squad and a Championship quality manager in Chris Powell. We are aware of their threat,” he added.
