Brentford loan star Jon Toral might be at the very beginning of his fledgling football career, but he has set his sights on reaching the top, writes Stuart Amos.

The 19-year-old Arsenal academy star, plagued by knee injuries in the early part of his career, is enjoying life at Griffin Park.

The Spaniard switched to west London from the Emirates on a season long loan deal last month, having scored seven goals in 20 appearances for the Gunners’ U21 squad last term.

He has impressed in two appearances for the Bees thus far and Toral is hoping that will only continue as he uses life in the Championship as a springboard to bigger and better things.

“I came to get some game time in a professional team and a professional league,” he said this week.

“I want to play in the maximum league in England , in the Champions League and at World Cups.

He added: “Santi Cazorla has played at World Cups for Spain. He is a really nice guy and he is a role model for me at Arsenal.

“This year I was lucky enough to be involved in the pre-season tour to New York and to train with these guys and play alongside the likes of Jack Wilshire was a great experience.”
