Brentford boss Mark Warburton has insisted the Bees have not let Adam Forshaw quit the club on the cheap.

The 21-year-old is expected to complete a switch to Wigan Athletic this week after Brentford accepted a third bid from the Latics for last season's League One player of the year.

And Warburton, who refused to reveal the finer details of the move, insisted owner Matthew Benham got the right price for a player keen to forge a career away from Griffin PArk.

"Anyone who thinks we’d let the League One player of the year and a talent like Adam Forshaw go for £2-3m is on a different planet to me," he said after last night's 1-0 Captial One Cup defeat to Fulham.

"It’s important the supporters realise the club stuck by its valuation and the owner was happy, which tells you all you need to know."
