Rosler secures deadline day double capturing Trotta and Calvet
Brentford boss Uwe Rosler pulled a couple of rabbits out of the hat on transfer deadline day yesterday.
Fulham striker Marcello Trotta returned to the club on loan until January 5 and AJ Auxerre’sFrench U20 international defender Raphael Calvet penned a three-year contract at Griffin Park.
Trotta will need thick skin after missing the spot kick against Doncaster Rovers that cost the Bees automatic promotion to the Championship in May.
But midfielder Sam Saunders has backed the Italian striker to show the necessary character to bounce back - as has Rosler, who was delighted to get his man.
“In the human nature it is very often people think the glass is half empty and remember the things that didn’t work out,” he said.
“The first thing |I remember is he joined us November 24 and then he played every single gamer. We were unbeaten in ten and won seven out of ten that was due to the fact Marcello came into the right time and gave us a big lift.
“He has learned a lot. The mental strength he has shown to play like he did against Swindon after the Doncaster game, was fantastic.
“That is the sort of quality we need. This year will be tough and we need players with strong nerves.”
