AFC Wimbledon are a step closer to the next round of the Checkatrade Trophy after a 4-3 win against Barnet last night (August 29).

Both Egli Kaja and Anthony Hartigan scored their first senior goals as academy graduates, each responded to by Barnet’s Ruben Bover and Shaquille Coulthirst, before Cody McDonald scored the Dons’ third shortly after half-time.

Andre Blackman brought the Bees to within a goal on 89 minutes, but an own goal scored earlier by Charlie Clough made it too difficult for the home side to come back.

Wimbledon have now secured their third consecutive win after defeating Docaster Rovers at home last Saturday (August 26) as they look to win secure three league victories in a row against Blackpool.

Their next game in group F of the Checkatrade Trophy is against Tottenham Hotspur’s under-21s at the Kingsmeadow on October 3 before hosting Luton Town almost a month later on October 31.
