Dons defender Andy Frampton is inching closer to a return to first team action after getting the cast off his fractured ankle.

The 35-year-old defender picked up the injury in training last month, but is now back with light running.

While Frampton continues his recovery, central defender Adam Barrett’s loan spell has been extended to the end of January.

Frampton said: “At the moment, we are taking it each day as it comes because you just don’t know if you’ll get any reaction to what you’re doing.

“The recovery is going better than we could have hoped for, when you consider the injury, and running is a step closer to getting back on the pitch.”

He added: I am itching to get back. We’re all in it together and we’re all fighting for each other.

“It is frustrating being out while they are playing, but these things need a bit of patience and I am trying to enjoy it in the best way I can.”
