Dons' defensive horrors in Capital One Cup defeat
1:15pm Thursday 16th August 2012 in League Two Table & Results By Tim Ashton
Unhappy: Terry Brown
AFC Wimbledon boss Terry Brown slammed his team’s defensive show at Stevenage Borough in the Capital One Cup on as “horrendous”.
The Dons crashed out of the competition at the first hurdle on Tuesday after a 3-1 defeat at Broadhall Way, conceding all three goals in a horror first half.
Brown, who saw Brendan Keirnan score his side’s consolation, said: “I am disappointed two of the goals were horrendous. One was a back pass that was missed by the keeper, giving the attacker
an easy tap in.
“Stevenage were better than us on the night, they had two terrific wingers we could not handle.
“I was pleased with the spirit we showed in the second half, it took a lot of character. We took the game to them but Stevenage are a very good League One side.
“We’ve had a tough pre-season and this was a tough game, so I’m not pressing any panic buttons yet. It will be interesting when we play a League Two side.”
