AFC Wimbledon's on loan goalkeeper Ben Wilson has returned to Cardiff City after a Twitter bust-up with fans.

The 23-year-old was at fault for Stevenage's winning goal in the 2-1 defeat on Saturday.

Dons fans went to Twitter to bemoan the goalkeeper's form, which also accounted for the Dons exit from the FA Cup after a mistake in the defeat to Forest Green Rovers.

Wilson reacted by telling fans "you're still paying to watch every week and helping towards my wage, I'm laughing and you're losing out".

After the club announced his return to Wales, boss Neal Ardley told Dons Player: “I’d like to thank Ben for his commitment while he was here and wish him all the best in his future career.”

The goalkeeper has since blocked his Twitter account to all but accepted friends.

After the Stevenage defeat, Jon Meades said the players would rally round Wilson.

“The boys will get around him and make sure he is OK," he said.

“He made a very good save and he’s a good goalkeeper. As a team we were not good enough though.

“We’re aware that results haven’t been good. We just need to keep working hard.”
