Paul Robinson is returning to Portsmouth today, and the AFC Wimbledon defender is ready to thrive on the challenge of a tough afternoon (Sunday).
Pompey are among the favourites for promotion out of League Two, and it is a tag they are fulfilling sitting fifth in the table with a game in hand on their rivals.
They are also regularly attracting more than 16,000 fans to Fratton Park, creating an atmosphere few in the Dons side will be accustomed to.
However, after spending last season at Pompey, Robinson is looking forward to playing in such an atmosphere.
He also knows that three points will lift the Dons into the play-offs, level on points with Pompey.
The 33-year-old told the Chichester Observer: “We know that they [Portsmouth] have a lot of quality and that crowd really gets behind them.
“So we know it will be a very, very tough game, but we want to enjoy the atmosphere and the challenge of taking them on.”
He added: “We are only three points behind them, but we have been too inconsistent so far.
“When we do find that consistency, we can start really troubling the top seven and possibly the top three.
“We have definitely shown we are a capable side.”
Akinfenwa: The Dons have the strenght in depth to bounce back
Reeves: We're up for Portsmouth challenge, if not, what's the point?
Robinson’s exit from Fratton Park over the summer came as a surprise to the defender, but he insists there is no animosity.
Robinson said: “I’m really looking forward to it and playing there again and I would like to think there is nothing to prove.
“But that doesn’t mean that I won’t be coming down there determined to try to win.
“When I left, it was a bit of a surprise all round really, but it showed you how quickly football can change.
“I never envisaged myself leaving in the summer, but we know what it’s like in football when the manager changes – nobody’s position is safe.
“Given the way things had become at Portsmouth, it seemed pretty clear that it was the best option available to me. I wanted to play regularly.
“But there are no hard feelings on my part.”
