The start of the 2015-16 campaign feels a bit frustrating, even though it should not.

The Dons are in 13th place, much closer to the play-off spots than the relegation zone, and we are not playing that badly. But it feels like we’re struggling.

We’ve lost two of our past five, but they were particularly tough losses. The 1-0 away at Oxford was tough to swallow, but we followed it up with a 5-2 reverse at home to Morecambe.

So while the points tally and position in the table are not too shabby, all things considered, it feels like we are in trouble. Or at the very least, we haven’t had much to rally around so far.

In the absence of confidence and momentum, we have to find joy and encouragement wherever we can find it until the results and table position match the first team’s talent and ambition.

Which brings me to Accrington away on Tuesday.

In four seasons of League football the Dons have struggled at the Crown Ground. The failure to earn results at Accrington had started to become a monkey on our backs.

And after going down 2-0 in the first 10 minutes, Tuesday night seemed to be more of the same.

But then something funny happened.

Lyle Taylor decided to have the best night of his young career.

And then Dannie Bulman decided he had not had enough goals lately.

Against a side we tend to struggle with, the Dons found a way to come from behind not once, but twice.

It took four goals and some nervous defending late in the game, but the Dons finally, finally, won at Accrington.

Regardless of points or place in the table, these sorts of results need to be cherished and appreciated.
