Ks can handle pressure of being Ryman top dogs

Kingstonian could find themselves at the summit of the Ryman Premier League table on Saturday night, and boss Alan Dowson could not be happier.

Ks have started the campaign in unbeaten fashion  – in contrast to their Kingsmeadow landlords – and are averaging nearly three goals per game to boot, thanks largely to the free-scoring expoits of Andre Mccollin, Dean Lodge and Matt Pattison.
 

A win at Bury Town this weekend and a draw in the first-versus-second clash between Hampton & Richmond Borough and Lowestoft Town could see Dowson men top the pile.
 

But the Kingsmeadow chief, who let Allan Tait switch to league rivals Met Police last week, is not concerned with the pressure of being up there to be shot at and is confident his men can take everything in their stride.
 

“People keep saying you do not want to go top of the table too early, but I’m not bothered,” he said.
 

“These things can turn around quite quickly if you are not careful. You have to enjoy it. 
 

“We could lose at the weekend and be out of the top five. We try to win every game we play and that will not change, whatever happens.”
 

Ks romped through to the FA Cup second qualifying round on Saturday with a 3-0 win at Guildford City and Dowson defended his cup record.
 

“We were one win away [from the first round] a couple of years ago, having started in the preliminary round. It is wrong to say we have not had a good cup run,” he said.
