New Carshalton Athletic manager Matt Howard is keen to get the new season underway as three new players arrive at Colston Avenue.

While chairman Paul Dipre confirmed the club’s new 3G pitch installation is continuing “just ahead of schedule”, Howard and his assistant Luke Garrard have begun putting their stamp on the first team squad.

The confirmed new arrivals ahead of the Robins’ pre-season schedule are defenders Adam Thompson and Lewis Gonsalves, plus midfielder Lee Hall.

“We are pleased to get these three and I hope this shows how serious Luke and I are taking the forthcoming season,” said Howard.

“Adam is a very experienced centre back who has won promotion from this league twice, and I know a few clubs wanted him, while Lewis is a versatile left-footer also with good experience at our level.

“Lee was with us at Corinthian Casuals last season and he won the management’s ‘player of the season’ award.”

Howard added he was still on the hunt for new blood in one or two other positions, but that his inherited squad will also be involved in his initial plans.

“I’m really happy to report most of the current squad want to come back to show Luke and I what they can do,” he said.

“I didn’t think Carshalton were a bad side last season so hopefully we can help take the club further forward.”

Four current players definitely confirmed to be a part of this brave new Carshalton future however are last season’s joint top goalscorers Tommy Bradford, Mickel Miller and Sean O’Toole, plus defender Bobby Price, as the Carshalton hierarchy confirmed it would take up their options for the next campaign.

“I was delighted to hear the club was keen to keep these four young exciting players and hopefully they can pick up where they left off last year,” added Howard.

“Now I just can’t wait to get everyone together and get cracking.”

Carshalton has also revealed their first pre-season friendlies of the summer: Chessington and Hook United (a, July 11), Egham Town (h, July 25), Redhill (h, July 27), Merstham (a, August 1) and Raynes Park Vale (a, August 4).
