Met Police boss Jimmy Cooper reckons lifting the Surrey Senior Cup could not be better preparation for a tilt at the Ryman Premier League play-offs.

First half goals from Jake Reid and Charlie Collins – from the spot – saw the Blues claim the trophy 2-0 at Woking FC on Wednesday.

Cooper is waiting on the result of Enfield Town’s appeal to the Football Association – to be heard on Friday – against their three-point deduction by the Ryman League for fielding an inelligible player.

Should the decision be upheld then the Blues will have a play-off semi-final clash with Hendon next week

“If we get into the play-offs we have had a competitive game to prepare and if we don’t, what a great way for a club like ours to finish the season,” said the Imber Court chief.

"It has been fantastic to finish sixth and win a trophy too.

"If we get the nod I would hope the play-offs are next week, because any later and a lot of our players will be on holiday.

"As it is we will be missing Ricardo Joseph and James Aldred next week, but Bradley Hudson-Odoi should be back from a five-day break in Dubai."

"The other knock on is it is proving difficult toorganise our pre-season schedule without knowing which league we are likely to be in."

He added: "The cup was won at half-time, to be fair. Billy Crook and Rob Bartley were superb for us again and they pushed Steve Sutherland close for the man of the match award.

"I thought we might start a bit slow because of the break from action, but we played some excellent stuff and we deserved to win."
